The project of Victory of Jesus for the Child God

Audio Description 00:00 00:00

When the image of the Baby Jesus was placed in the Parish Church, devotion grew to such an extent that alms increased significantly. Vitória de Jesus' intention then arose to have a more appropriate space built for the God Child.

Of the various requests made to the Archbishop of Braga, D. Rodrigo de Moura Teles, by Vitória de Jesus and his followers, to erect a chapel in honor of the Baby Jesus, the choice of location was Campo da Feira or Campo do Salvador.

Vitória de Jesus' first petition to the archbishop of Braga to build the chapel in honor of the Baby Jesus, dated May 31, 1721.

After four and a half years, on October 6, 1725, the desired authorization was obtained from the Archbishop of Braga. However, it was only in the following year, on June 8, 1726, that the archbishop confirmed the previous license, granting a new provision for the chapel to be built.
