Audio Description 00:00 00:00

There is a beautiful oratory, whose interior is of “national” carving, made of hollow leaves and of the best quality, which is said to have been in the Parish Church of Barcelos, when the primitive image of the Child God was installed there. It is a rectangular oratory, made of gilded wood, consisting only of a framed body, with a finish and two doors that have circular paintings. Its interior has an oratory layout, framed with a golden frieze full of plant elements and carved volutes. The panel has a golden background, decorated with birds, flowers, branches and leaves painted in black. In front of it and on a set of three steps is a crucifix, with the date 1705. On the sides, there are two rectangular doors, decorated with vegetal moldings and crowns, inside. There are three pairs of circular paintings, in total six carved medallions, which represent scenes from the life of Christ, such as the passion. Thus, they represent the following images; Christ dialoguing with the Father, Christ stripped of his clothes, flagellation and judgment of Christ, Veronica wiping the face of Christ, Christ being nailed to the cross.
